What if ailments are a result of us punishing ourselves?

What if these ailments we are suffering from are a result of us punishing ourselves?

Now I’m really just playing the devils advocate here. So let’s play along and you can decide at the end whether it’s bullshit or valid. Maybe it’ll just be another piece of information that goes in one ear and out the other, but maybe it will change your life.

Do we subconsciously punish ourselves?

We hear the scariest stories everyday or almost, at least in my career. I’m a hairstylist and for some reason, I guess because people have nothing else to say so they talk about the news, people tell me the current events, whether in their life or what surrounds them.

I think most people socialize in this way. We don’t know what to say so we talk about all the scary crap we’ve heard. I wonder what would happen in our lives and in the world as a whole if for even just one week we only talked about the positive goodness in the world. Because there is so so so much greatness.

We hear these crazy story’s and we think wow I’m so lucky that wasn’t me. But why was it them? Why did this crazy messed up thing happen to them and not me? Why is my life so perfect? I kinda feel guilty. Do you ever feel that way?

What if what ails us is really us punishing ourselves because maybe if we are suffering in a small way, maybe if we don’t really “have it all” we don’t have to feel that guilt. We feel like we can blend into the world along with everyone else and no one will be mad at us. No one will be jealous or envious of us if we are struggling too.  You ever meet that person that always has “something” happening in their life. Some drama. Or maybe you are that person? Maybe if you always have something crappy happening to you, then maybe you don’t have to feel so bad.

Do I deserve this? Do you ever think that?

Here is what I challenge you. I challenge you that you abso-fuckin-lutely deserve the good health and happiness in your life. You deserve success, you deserve that baby, the dog, the husband, the 3 acre parcel and the white pickett fence. God wouldn’t have given it to you if you didn’t.

Live one moment at a time because it’s the only moment that’s real. God wants you to enjoy this life. Your life! He gives you what you need and he wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for you. Next time you think of feeling guilty or sad for the person you hear of sad news. I challenge to to send them love and light of good will and wellness and peace, then drop it.

I challenge you to talk only positive for one whole week. And when you get to the end of that week and you see how amazing you feel. I challenge you to go another week. Stop talking and posting about the shit of the world and share a positive story on instagram or Facebook.

Everytime you feel tempted to say something negative, I want you to think of say 5 things you are grateful for.

May today bring you more peace love and happiness then you could ever imagine!

Stay awesome! And if you need a prayer please comment below.

Is it worth it?

The past 3 years especially, I’ve just become aware of what’s really worth my energy. Every time I react to a situation, or right before I do, I like to say, “is this worth my energy”?

Unless it’s positive it’s usually not.

I’m the type of friend, or even person in your life that cares. I know that even if I am super busy in my day I can either make you feel loved or invisible just by a response.

I have several “friends” who are active on Instagram all day, but they can’t seem to “remember” to text you back because they are so “busy”. I think both are bullshit. You either care enough about something or someone to remember or you don’t. If you didn’t want to have a child you wouldn’t forget to take your birth control everyday. And if you did, well that’d be called careless.  Then there’s busy. I’m one of the busiest people I know but I still find time to make people in my life feel visible.

What I’ve learned is that you stop giving energy to people who don’t give you any. Not responding to someone’s call or text after 3 days. That’s not busy, that’s called not caring.

I give energy to life and people and situations that give energy back to me.

So why are people more lonely then ever? In a world with more social media then ever? Because they give too much energy to a media that gives nothing back to them. Now that’s another blog in itself.

Why I do it all

Since I was a kid I have been interested in many hobbies. And since I was a kid I’ve really heard the same phase, “wow, you do it all don’t you”

Believe me. I don’t do it all to make you feel like you’re not doing enough. But if it inspires you that’s great. Get after it!

I’ve also heard that you should just pick one career and focus on that. You put your energy in that area and it flourishes.

Heres why I think that’s bullshit.

I’m a hairstylist. And though I love my job and making people’s day with a transformational Haircut and color, I just wouldn’t want to do it full time. Why? Because as much as a love it and as much as I’d like to think I do a decent job, it’s emotionally & physically exhausting. I’m on my feet all day with my arms above my shoulders and I hear one crazy short story after another.

I know people joke that a hairstylist is really a

th-hair-apist but seriously 😳 sometimes the stories first time clients tell me. I’m like why would you tell me that 😳. Why would you tell a complete stranger your most private moments. News flash! I don’t want to hear about it.

And then I’m a bridal Seamstress. Which is very stress relieving. I sit in my studio in absolute silence. I never play the radio. I rarely have the tv on. If anything I’m listening to the “you bet your garden” podcast. Because yup. You guessed it. I love to garden to.

In fact I consider myself a gardener & I would love to homestead.

So you want to go Blonde...

Sometimes I get guests that come in and understand the process. Or at least they sorta get it. They definitely don’t think that it’s going to happen in one visit.

But then I get guests who actually think I am taking them super blonde today! Why I don’t do this and why it’s usually not possible, you will find out if you keep reading.

Senario #1

You have virgin Hair which has never been colored. You come in and and show me a picture of a beautiful balayage ombré, enhancing your natural root color.

Is this possible?

Absolutely! Depending how long and thick your hair is you can expect to spend 2-4 hours and can expect to pay $150-250. Plus in my salon I would make it mandatory to add Brazilian bond builder to your lightner which is a additional $25-50

Senario #2

You have only ever colored your hair one time. EVER!

Great! It’s still going to take you at least 2 sessions but depending how dark you are and how light you want to be, it can still take a year to safety get there. You can expect to spend $150-250 per session. It depends what you are wanting.

Is that shocking? Why? I mean Hair is pretty resilient, but like us all, it reaches a breaking point.

Can Brazilian bond builder help? Absolutely. It absolutely pushes the limit. But it’s not a get out of jail free card. But it’s close!

Senario #3

You have been coloring dark brown over all your hair for years. Box color or professional color. The layers still add up.

Here’s the thing.

Every hair texture and persons body chemistry is so so different. So when you hear your hairstylist say that. She’s not just feeding you a line. We don’t know. We’re not Jesus.

Here is thing number two.

The product a hairstylist uses. Is incredibly consistent. Incredibly. These companies don’t invest millions of dollars into there product and scientists to get a product we take a gander with every application. These products are created by scientists. Highly educated scientist.

With that being said. The product is consistent. So when your hair is done lifting and it won’t pull through brassy orange or yellow. It’s a “what’s on your hair microscopically factor” and your body chemistry. Could be you have really shitty water in your area. Are you on well water? Do you smoke? Are you on medication?

Ive had pregnant women who lift super quick to white blonde and then not when they are pregnant. Is that a hormone thing? I won’t even try. I’m a hairstylist. But I’ve seen it. I’d call that body composition.

When Hair stops lifting. It’s done. A stylist can either go back through every section and use a higher developer and place it on that area. Or you have patients. Respect the process. Let her rinse and style you and schedule your next appointment.

Unless you have hard lines or holidays or splotches on your hair. She didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just that’s where your hair went this session.

Dont rail off on her. Don’t say “OMG. I JUST THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BLONDER”. Trust the process. Trust that she has done all she could this session. Either come back or if you are that upset, simply move on to another hairstylist. If your last hairstylist did it in one session GOOD! Go back to her!!!

There is a lot of pressure that someone clients place on their hairstylist. And if I discover that about a client. I won’t take you anymore. I love my job. And I intend to keep it that way.

Hasta pronto!

Fall is for scalp detox

Scalp detox is so important for the health of your scalp and overall hair. Growth happens from the scalp so brushing out the crap is needed.

How to do a scalp detox at home?

Here is the list of items you need.

step one!

  • split your hair into 4 quadrants. Apex point to mastoid process which is the top of your head to behind your ear on either side and then straight down the back. Clip. Clip. Clip. Clip 😬

Step two!

  • Pick a section and take a perfect, clean slice, about a half inch. With your boar bristle brush. Brush up 3 times and down 3 times.
  • Clip that section back.
  • In a small bowl. Pour about 1/8th of a cup of castor oil. And 5 drops of peppermint essential oil and 5 drops of lavender.
  • Dip one finger in and rub the oil on that sliced section that you just brushed

step three!

  • continue through that section of hair. Slice by slice. Brushing up 3 times and down 3 times.
  • This brushing brushes away dry skin and built up oil in the follicle. And stimulates new growth.
  • Placing the oil blend on your scalp right after allows it to deeper penetrate and nourish your scalp.

Step four!

  • After going through all of your sections and placing the oil. The heat from your scalp with evenly distribute throughout
  • now that you are finished. Set a timer for 2 minutes and massage your scalp. Or get a friend or spouse to for a even more relaxing experience.

❤️ And if you just are not motivated to do it yourself. You can book a appointment with me through my email. I charge $35 for a scalp detox and leave with a braid. Or $60 for a scalp detox and blowout & style. Or $75 for a scalp detox, haircut and blowdry & style!

so much love to all my followers! Thanks for reading along! 🙋🏼💆🏻
